The last 40 years of their life the German Dittrich family have spent among Latin Americans in different countries on and off the South American continent. 15 years ago they came to the DR from Germany with their two sons Alexander and Michael and stayed. The family is to be considered true multinationals and the more since Michael, one of the sons got married to a French Canadian girl.
The amber and Larimar project came up when Hermann, a graduate in international commerce, was asked to do research for the Amber and the Larimar museums in Santo Domingo. During his studies, he and his wife Angie fell in love with these unique materials. Because of their background and insight in the Latin mentality, he easily could build not only close personal ties with the folks at the mines but also best business contacts.
To promote and organize international sales, AmbarAzul, LLC was founded in the US state of Delaware. Today, the whole family is involved in the amber business, contributing each one with his abilities and talents to the different aspects of this venture.
